This base-level entry is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 6,200 pounds. The next option is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that delivers up to 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque.

The Maximum Towing Capacity

Dodge has achieved a best-in-class towing rating for the Durango. When properly equipped, this vehicle can tow up to 8,700 pounds.

There are three different configurations that reach this maximum. The first is the SRT Hellcat with the supercharged engine and all-wheel drive. The next option is the SRT 392 with the 6.4-liter V8 engine and available all-wheel drive. The third is the R/T with an available tow-and-go package, a 5.7-liter engine, and available all-wheel drive.

Interior Space

The Durango is a particularly popular choice with large families who also need to tow trailers and boats. There aren’t a lot of vehicle options that offer such a high towing capacity paired with third-row seating, but the Durango does it. This vehicle offers seating for up to seven people. There is an available second-row center console for the Citadel and SRT models with its own climate control and USB ports.

The third row can be folded down flat to maximize the cargo space. In fact, with the seats folded, the Durango has a maximum cargo volume of up to 85.1 cubic feet.

Infotainment

The base-level SXT model and the GT models come with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. This comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also includes UConnect, which adds voice command integration to the system.

The GT has an available 10.1-inch screen, which is standard on the Citadel and R/T models. The larger touchscreen also adds WiFi hotspot capabilities and in-dash navigation.
